Summer Camp Counselor: My Experience

summer camp counselor, vista camps, texasby Mary-Sue

The summer of 2013 I had the privilege of serving as a summer camp counselor at Sierra Vista Camps in Ingram, Texas. For me this was a long time coming. I love working with kids, I love to experience American culture and I wanted to do something I had never done before. Stepping out of my comfort zone makes me grow as a person and makes me understand the world a bit better. Sierra Vista really did that for me. Read on for  first, my honest experience in the matter where I will call a spade a spade, followed by some general information about Vista Camps.

H&M Shoplog Summer 2015

H&M Shoplog Summer 2015, jemssparklesby Mary-Sue

Cute clothes, good quality, low prices; my student wallet is pleased! H&M has been one of my favorite stores for ages. My closet is full of their basic stuff. However, inspired by new friends I was ready to try more “adventurous” outfits. So for this summer I decided to step out of my comfort zone and buy very colorful printed shorts. As a jeans-shorts-only-kinda-girl this is a big change!

History: George Washington

Washington 1
Portrait of George Washington by Rembrandt Peale

by Jirrine

There are many people that consider history to be boring. They say it is outdated, full of unnecessary facts and not interesting. I personally love history. I think our history is fascinating! I love to watch history documentaries, read history books (for fun!) and love history inspired movies, books and television shows. To share my passion for history once in a while I write something short about a particular event or person in history to show that history can be fun too! I might even tell you some things you don’t know! Today I want to start with the first president of the United States: George Washington.

Summer Inspiration: Swimwear

#by Jirrine & Mary-Sue

Our summer is not complete without a nice bathing suit to hang around in. Since the weather in Holland has been dreary however, we can only dream about wearing the next items we’ve picked out. Nevertheless, if we were to live on Hawaii and were to have all the money in the world these would be our #1 picks. Enjoy and let us know where you got your bikini for this summer!

Esprit Bikini 02 Summer Inspiration: SwimwearEsprit: Flower Dessin Halter-Bandeau Top €29,99/Midi-Bottom €19,99 (available on http://www.esprit.com

With this print it doesn’t really matter what kind of weather it is. Put it on and instant vacation feeling! I really love what Esprit has done with their swimwear: they created a couple of bold prints and in each of these prints make a variety of tops and bottoms. Each are sold individually so that you’ll really find a bikini that fits your body and your style. Personally I really like this haltertop bandeau hybrid variant but the top also comes in a regular halter and normal bra version. Options for the bottom is a larger bottom or a short. Whatever your preference, you’ll be noticed!

Muesli Bites

Muesli bites 08

by Jirrine

I love snacks! In between meals I am always craving something nice and sweet and mostly those that I grab are not very healthy. Although these are not super healthy (they have plenty of syrup!), these are a lot better than store made chocolate chip cookies with lots of refined sugar. So if you have 30 minutes to spare try your hand at these jummy muesli bites!

I have a love for all things Disney. I also have a love for sneakers! A couple of weeks ago I came across a facebook message promoting really cool shoes. A collaboration between Vans and Disney! The collection has already been for sale for a couple of weeks, but when I visited the store last week they still had all the models. If you’re a Disney fan or just a fan of cool limited editions check out the collection below!

Bar-B Amsterdam

Bar B 6

by Jirrine

Like most people I really like food. I also really like finding new and cool places to eat. Recently my boyfriend started a new job in Amsterdam which means that I get to go there a lot more often then I used to! Last week we had something to celebrate so we decided to venture out in search of something good. It didn’t take long before our eyes fell on Bar-B, located in side street of the Leidsestraat. My bf really likes burgers and here they had everything to satisfy that need!

Victoria’s Secret Fragrance Mist

Victoria’s Secret Fragrance Mist, jemssparkles

by Mary-Sue

Today I wanted to share with you my love for Victoria’s Secret Fragrance Mists. I only own four different kinds of mists because they are hard to come by in The Netherlands. You’ll have to visit Schiphol Airport for the only Victoria’s Secret store in the country. Otherwise try bol.com or Etos, they sell some fragrances, but their assortments are very limited. So whenever you happen to be in the United States, make that money rain!

Women’s Health Fit for Summer Day

WH 4

by Jirrine

I, like most people, realize that regular exercise is good for me. Believing is one thing. Acting on it is an entirely different thing altogether. The best way to get me exercising is to make it fun. For the third year Women’s Health NL organized the Fit for Summer Day, a day filled with sports, fun and meeting new people! In a moment of total spontaneity my little sister and I bought tickets. Oops, what did we sign up for?
