IKEA Lamp “Samtid” Make-Over

IKEA Samtid with rips make over

By Mary-Sue

After the IKEA coffee table make-over I still had half a roll of the adhesive foil left and I knew immediately what I wanted to do with it. The coffee table was namely not the only thing that endured rough damage during my moving houses. My IKEA lamp “Samtid” had a few rips in the lampshade and looked straight up pathetic.

This make-over pretty much speaks for itself: apply adhesive foil to the lampshade and you’re done. However, there are some problems I encountered and instead of doing a blog post on “ooh look how pretty the end result is” I wanted to show you what went on behind the foil. Because to be honest, that part is not pretty and actually badly constructed. Had I known what would happen upfront, I would have been more careful handling the shade. It’s not that I planned the shade to break, so this is just me, making the best of a bad situation and a heads-up for when y’all try this yourselves.

Cowdí – The Art in Mosaic and Glass Fusion

Mucha Incognito Close Up

by Mary-Sue

I am very excited and proud to finally announce my mom’s Mosaic and Glass Fusion Art website called Cowdí. It started just a few years ago as a newfound hobby, but has now turned into a full-on addiction. Everything she gets her hands on will get a mosaicked transformation. I’m not joking; she has fidgeted little stones onto pouffes, birdhouses, busts, shoes and more! I recently moved to Amsterdam and she literally mosaicked the living daylight out of my new apartment as well: mosaicked bathroom floor, mosaicked windowsill, mosaicked EVERYTHING. Therefore, I thought it only fitting that she’d get herself a website and show her artwork to the world to inspire others.

Interior Red

by Mary-Sue

Behold the promised red-toned interior design pieces blog post. After last week’s all-white items (click HERE to see that post), these pieces will bring some color back into the house. All of the items are DIYed for my mom’s hobby (and soon to be company) is mosaicking. Let this blog post be the leading example that mosaicking is not outdated or dull at all, but can be very modern looking (and a fun process!).

White at Home: Six Cute Interior Items

by Mary-Sue

My mother is an interior design graduate and it’s therefore no wonder that my parents’ home decor changes a few hundred times per year. My mom goes through phases, with the most recent being: all-white items or colorfully warm red toned pieces. This blog post will entail the first kind and next week the second category will be shown.

As my mom also has her own mosaic and glass fusion company called Cowdí (website will soon be up), lots of the centerpieces are DIYed. I hope this blog post inspires you to change (or make) your own décor. If you do, please let me know in the comments below!  vase and luminous flowersRead More »

hidden 2 - stilla liquid lips

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks Summer Shades – $24 (www.stilacosmetics.com)

I might not be the biggest fan of summer, I do very much like bright summer colors on my lips! I have never tried this but for the colors alone I would buy these! Look at the gorgeous middle color called Bella or the most right color Amalfi. Amalfi, le sigh! The perfect name for something summery. The golden caps give them a really chick look. Definitely something I would like to carry around in my purse. The other three in the summer range are called Rosa, Como and Venezia. I think I hear Italy calling. It wants me to come over and wear these beautiful shades while wandering the streets of Sienna…
